PassItForwardLC PET RULES

"The Secret To Happiness is Giving it Away"

PassItForwardLC "Animal &Pet Rules"

While the concept of PassItForwardLC is about recycling items that would normally end up in a landfill, there are many who wish to use this resource to recycle their pets and animals. Many National Recycling Groups are no longer allowing live animals to be offered (or asked for), but here in Las Cruces we would like to help our members with the "re-homing" of pets and other animals, while at the same time do our best to protect the animal from ending up in an unsafe environment.

It may be important for you to know, however, that when an animal is given up for FREE, it poses a risk for the animal that can have a horrid or even fatal ending. For example, there are those who still practice dog fighting in this area alone, and these [free] animals can be used not only as the fighting animal, but worse, as the "bait!" Cats and other small creatures are also used for this purpose. Aside from this, there are many other inhumane practices going on with animals as well (this info is always available online). So to offer an animal FREE "does place that animal at potential risk," and therefore, we have established here at PassItForwardLC, "Animal & Pet Rules" that we would like to ask you to abide by if you are going to Offer, Ask For, or Receive, any type of pet or live animal (to include any living creature). The process is not that difficult to follow, and will help ensure your pet receives a good home.

Please read the following "Animal & Pet Rules" below:

1) Please submit to Pet Moderator all information (including photo/s) pertaining to the animal. Be precise and provide as much details about the animal you are offering or asking for as possible. (Please see: Questions To Answer - below.)

2) The Pet Moderator will then Post the Listing to all PassItForwardLC Members and ask that “all emails of interest” be sent first to the Pet Moderator at ziababedee@yahoo.com.

3) The Pet Moderator will screen applicants for repeat or suspicious members then forward for consideration the approved emails to the person offering or asking for the animal.

4) You will get to make a choice based on the emails sent to you by the Pet Moderator, where upon you will then make contact with the recipient to let them know that you are “considering them” for adoption of your animal.

5) Before you make your final decision, we would like to suggest that you “ask many questions” (see Sample Questions To Ask Receiversbelow), and to also ask the recipient if they would have any problem allowing you to do a follow-up of the animal. You can also ask that in lieu of any payment for the that they at least make a donation to one of the many Animal/Pet Organizations and Resources (see list below).

6) Please forward to the Pet Moderator all pertinent information regarding the recipient of your animal – as well as your own (i.e; name, address, email, phone number).

7) If you are the Receiver of an animal, we would like to ask that you also comply with the Animal & Pet Rules by contacting us with your name, address, email, and phone number, and also agree to allow the owner, and/or the PassItForwardLC Pet Moderator, to do a follow-up on your new animal for up to 6 months. (Please note: All personal information will be kept in strictest confidentiality by the Pet Moderator.)

8) If you lost a dog/cat or found one, you can write to us and we will post the message about the animal to our group members. But it must go through the Pet Moderator and/or owners because members are not allowed to post any message pertaining to animals.

Addendum To Pet Rules & Policies:

The Pet Moderator/owners will be working in conjunction with the Humane Society of Southern New Mexico to inform our members of dogs and cats needing re-homing or foster homes. If you are interested in any of the animals being posted please contact the Pet Moderator or Reply to the message posting. You must, however, follow the same rules that are already established here in our Pet Rules Blog/Policies for giving, receiving, or asking for pets.

A PET'S TEN COMMANDMENTS

1. My life is likely to last 10-15 years. Any separation from you is likely to be painful.

2. Give me time to understand what you want of me.

3. Place your trust in me. It is crucial for my well-being.

4. Don't be angry with me for long and don't lock me up as punishment. You have your work, your friends, your entertainment, but I have only you.

5. Talk to me. Even if I don't understand your words, I do understand your voice when speaking to me.

6. Be aware that however you treat me, I will never forget it.

7. Before you hit me, before you strike me, remember that I could hurt you, and yet, I choose not to bite you.

8. Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I'm not getting the right food, I have been in the sun too long, or my heart might be getting old or weak.

9. Please take care of me when I grow old. You too, will grow old.

10.. On the ultimate difficult journey, go with me please. Never say you can't bear to watch. Don't make me face this alone. Everything is easier for me if you are there, because I love you so.

Take a moment today to thank God for your pets. Enjoy and take good care of them.

Life would be a much duller, less joyful experience without God's critters.
